Confidence

Build your fitness level, meet new goals, learn new skills, and get tons of endorphins. Aikido training will give you unshakable confidence.

Community

Join us at least once a month for dojo parties and get-togethers. We also host seminars periodically, which attract visitors from around the globe.

Fitness

Martial arts is a high-aerobic workout that uses every muscle group in the body. Your stamina, muscle tone, flexibility, balance and strength will all improve. Show up and get in the best shape of your life!

Stress Relief & Contentment

The workout you get from training, combined with our study of the peaceful principles of Aikido will give you new tools for dealing with stress, bringing contentment and peace.

What Others Are Saying

Don’t just take it from us, let our dojo members & alumni do the talking!

"I came looking for exercise I wouldn't get bored of and self defense skills, and while I still get plenty of training in those areas, the reasons I come to Aikido have expanded.  I now find aikido training helps with emotional strength, mental clarity, spiritual growth, confidence, and even communication (or as we call it, verbal aikido)."

"Lia Sensei changed my life. Her teachings in Aikido have had a profound impact on who I am today and continue to shape me everyday into a stronger, more grounded person.

Lia Sensei is truly a one-of-a-kind teacher. She is passionate to no end about Aikido which comes through in her thoughtful though very Japanese style of teaching. Her Aikido classes always leave me drenched in sweat by the end which I have almost never experienced anywhere else (except Japan!) They are intense, dynamic, and feel the way a martial art should truly feel, like a sacred practice."

Chris Coats

Film Maker

"Once I arrived in LA I signed up for some intro classes with Aikido Kenkyukai to see if the dojo would be a good fit for me. A few classes later, I signed up for the year. Suzuki Sensei embodies many of the principals of Aikido and comes from a direct lineage of Aikidoka. What this means for the layman is she's "close" to the source. She's very skilled and deeply cares about the art.

Aikido is a great place for me to "reset" on the mat. It certainly does that for me."

Plans and Pricing

Our best value options reward commitment.

We find that choosing a 6 or 12 month commitment period has a very strong and positive effect on your progress in Aikido. And this progress is exactly what builds confidence, and brings all the other benefits that Martial Arts training offers you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cancel my membership?

During your initial term, you cannot cancel your membership. All agreements are final.

After your initial term, your membership will automatically convert to Month-to-Month flexibility, but at your current rate. You can then cancel anytime with 30-day written notice.*

*We’re happy to report that very few people want to quit after their initial term. 🙂

What if I need to take a break during my agreement?

If you anticipate needing to take a break, the Month-to-Month Agreement might be a better choice for you.

If you do go with a term agreement (6 or 12 month) and need to take a break during your initial term, you will still be billed for the months you don’t train. After you have completed your initial term, you can freeze your account for up to 3 months with 30-day written notice. Each frozen month you’ll be charged $15.

If you end up paying during months that you haven’t trained, please keep in mind that these payments will be seen as donations and will be put towards our charitable work. You’ll be supporting those in need, through such programs as our Aikido for Veterans’ Program and our Youth Scholarship Program.

We are a 501c3 tax-exempt organization and are happy to provide you with a receipt for a tax deduction. Just let our office know how many months your break lasted.

Can I upgrade from one Membership Option to another?

Sure. Just understand that each agreement starts on the day you sing up for it and goes for the prescribed term length. For example, if you start with the Month-to-Month agreement and then decide from the second month that you want to upgrade to the 6th Month Agreement, you’re essentially committing to 7 months of training.

What's the schedule?

Do you offer scholarships?

Yes! AKI USA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We offer a limited number of scholarships each year to deserving candidates. You can fill out an application here:
